Jeff spent the first four years of his practicing career at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, where he specialized in securities fraud, complex commercial disputes, and civil rights litigation. He also ran the firm's pro bono efforts in Texas. After deciding that he wanted to represent Plaintiffs, Jeff joined Whitehurst, Harkness, Ozmun & Brees P.C., where he worked with Travis County District Judge Scott Ozmun on many cases. Jeff obtained one of the nation's highest civil rights settlements ever ($6,800,000) from several defendants for their role in wrongfully imprisoning an innocent teenager for twelve years. In addition to his national civil rights work, Mr. Edwards practices general personal injury, medical malpractice, and business litigation in state and federal courts. In 2004, he was named Austin's most outstanding lawyer under 40 and since 2005, he has been named a Texas Rising Star in the legal field by Texas Monthly. Community service is also important to Jeff and his firm. Jeff is a Commissioner on the Access to Justice Commission, a past president of the board of Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas, and past president of the Austin Young Lawyers Association, and a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. He is particulary proud of his work as Santa the last five years for disadvantaged foster children in the Travis and Hays county area. He is also a member of the Austin Bar Association, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Capital Area Trial Lawyers Association, and the State Bar of Texas. Mr. Edwards is licensed to practice before the State Bar of Texas; the United States District Court, Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas; and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit. Jeff grew up in Connecticut, and his wife, Allison, grew up in Houston, but they now consider Austin home. They have two children, Bering and Luke.
