HEALTH INSURANCE: Sued a health insurance provider after they wrongfully denied benefits to a student at a large public university. NEGLIGENCE: Family home was burned down as a result of faulty workmanship by plumber's building the house next door. All of the family's personal belongings as well as the house were a complete loss. AUTOMOBILE NEGLIGENCE: Husband and wife were severely injured in an accident in Williamson County, Texas. The only witnesses to the collision were the parties, who remembered very little about the accident. This case required extensive accident reconstruction and investigation. MEDICAL MALPRACTICE: Elderly stroke victim was admitted to rehabilitation hospital for therapy. While admitted, patient was given medication by the wrong route, resulting in cardiac arrest and secondary injury. AUTOMOBILE/PEDESTRIAN NEGLIGENCE: Colorado resident was struck by a car while crossing the street in Austin, Texas. Colorado counsel referred case to us. Issues involved were complicated by the fact that insurance policies from Colorado and Texas were involved SEXUAL HARASSMENT: Two women were subjected to harassment by their boss, the supervisor of a satellite office of a major national corporation. AUTOMOBILE NEGLIGENCE: Local man was killed in an unwitnessed automobile accident with a delivery truck here in Austin, Texas. We represent his family against the driver of the delivery van. Accident reconstruction and complex investigation make this a complicated case. NURSING HOME NEGLIGENCE: Elderly Patient in a nursing home given a medication that required monitoring with blood tests. Tests were not performed and she suffered severe kidney damage. CONSTRUCTION NEGLIGENCE: House constructed with improper methods resulting in water damage. NEGLIGENCE/FRAUD: Sellers of Home failed to disclose material defects in the home. We represented the subsequent purchasers who incurred numerous unexpected costs to repair damage. NEGLIGENCE/CONSTRUCTION: Public business violated building codes by building staircase that did not comply with building codes. Woman broke her ankle when she fell down the stairs. NEGLIGENCE/FRAUD: Sellers of residence failed to disclose a murder in the home. We represented the subsequent purchasers who were understandably alarmed to learn of such an event. PRODUCTS LIABILITY: We have represented many clients injured by defective pharmaceutical medications and medical devices. PRODUCTS LIABILITY: Represented woman injured when pressure cooker she was using exploded. MEDICAL MALPRACTICE: Represented a woman sexually assaulted by her doctor. NEGLIGENCE/DRAM SHOP: Represented a client injured by a drunk driver in a claim against the drunk driver and the restaurant/bar who overserved him. NEGLIGENCE: We represent a family whose son was killed when the motorcycle he was riding struck a backhoe parked too close to the edge of the road by a major construction company. AUTOMOBILE NEGLIGENCE: We have several cases involving individuals thrown from the back of pickup trucks, often resulting in severe injuries. PREMISES LIABILITY: We represent the family of a child that drowned in the swimming pool of a local health club. TRUCKING ACCIDENT: We represented a woman who was struck and almost killed by an 18-wheeler on Interstate 35. Our client suffered a neck and back fracture and was severely immobilized for a long period of time following the accident. ATV NEGLIGENCE: We represent a teenage girl that suffered a severe head injury in a 4-wheeler accident. Insurance policies often exclude these vehicles from coverage making thorough investigation of the facts and circumstances surrounding the injury important. PREMISES LIABILITY: We represent the family of a child that drowned in an apartment complex swimming pool. Specific regulations and codes govern the operation of these facilities placing several duties on the landlords. AUTOMOBILE/EMPLOYER NEGLIGENCE: We represented the family of a young man killed in a car accident with an allegedly intoxicated driver. The driver had been sent home from work prior to the accident. We brought claims against both the driver of the vehicle and her employer. WRONGFUL IMPRISONMENT: An eighteen year old was wrongfully convicted of aggravated rape based on the coerced confession of his friend. While in jail, the individual was kicked in the head with steel-toed boots and suffered a brain injury. Subsequently, the police and District Attorney's Office confirmed the individuals' innocence. After numerous lawsuits, the City of Austin, Travis County and the State of Texas all settled the claims made against them. The client received more than $6.6 million and a trust was set up to provide lifelong care. SEXUAL ABUSE: We represent a child who was sexually assaulted and harmed at a Texas Youth Commission facility for juveniles. We have represented other minors on similar claims that occurred at TYC facilities. BREACH OF FIDUCIARY DUTY: Represented partner in firm in a breach of fiduciary duty suit. The allegations centered around malfeasance and inappropriate insider transactions of the other partners. COMMERCIAL LITIGATION: Represented Austin computer storage corporation against several investment banks for breach of fiduciary duties while advising them on an IPO. POLICE SHOOTINGS: Lead counsel on police shooting resulting in the death of a twenty-five year old African American male fleeing from the police. We also currently represent twenty-three year old shot and killed by officers working for the Round Rock Police Department. SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A MINOR: We represent a teenage girl who was sexually assaulted by a Brownwood police officer despite complaints and indications to the chief of police and other policymakers.
